- Did you pay for Christmas on credit cards and buy-now-pay-later?
- Are the bills starting to come in?
- Does January feel like the longest month, with last pay day ages away, and the next one weeks away?
- Are you fed up feeling skint all the time, and worrying about how you will cover your bills?
- Do you feel like you can't talk to family or friends?
We can help. Credit Unions like Holdfast are here to help you. We belong to the community, and our purpose it to help you get on track and stay on track with your money.
There are some really good tips on coping with post-Christmas debt in this BBC article but when you are feeling low and worried, actually taking those steps can feel too overwhelming. We can help with that, and work through them with you.
If you want a judgement-free helping hand to get your finances sorted, just get in touch with us. We can take you through your bills and outgoings, and help you to work out exactly what your current money situation is. It can feel hard facing up to it, but once you know that, you can start on your journey to getting to a better place.
We can help you find out if you are entitled to any benefits that you aren't already claiming, give you ideas for stretching your budget and making the most of your money, and even help you start a savings habit.
You may think savings are completely out of reach when you are struggling to manage your money or you have debt, but that just isn't true when it comes to Holdfast. We have members who have applied for small loans (up to £500) which they pay back from their Child Benefit. At the same time, we put a bit of their Child Benefit into their Holdfast savings, and then the rest is paid straight back to them.
At the end of the loan, their debt is gone, and they have savings too. Those savings can be kept with us, taken out to use, or can help you to get future loans.
This is just one of the options we can offer our members. And because we are run by the community for the community, you have the peace of mind of knowing that our advice is in your best interests.
If you want help finding your way forward, just get in touch and let us know.
